My name is Cheryl. I love in Matawai on a farm. I live with my parent and my sisters and brothers. I am in year 6. I was born in New Zealand but my parents were born in Scotland. 

Being Sunsmart

 Today for the Summer Leanring Journey I designed and made a UV indicator for my family. I made it out of a shoe box lid. I drew the lines to show the UV ray levels and I will use a peg to show where the UV level is each day. I can find that out by going here.

I will hang this UV indicator on the fridge because we all go there for cold drinks in the summer.

Seeking Help

 Today we were learning about seeking help if things go wrong when we are online. 

I was able to make a flowchart and put things to do in each shape. I used arrows to connect my shapes. I replaced the image with my photo as the author. I changed the title and made the background a colour that meant the words can be seen easily.

We had a competition to see who could screenshot our work and email it to our teachers. I was really fast and won!

Summer Symmetry

Today I did this maths Summer Learning Journey activity on symmetry.

I had to take 4 photos of things around me and think about the lines of symmetry that they have. I chose these things because they are probably things we will use in the summer holidays. 

The lines of symmetry are drawn on each photo and I have caption for each image with the number of lines of symmetry under them. 

I have made a bug out of leaves and twigs.

Don't Fall for Fake

 Today we were leanring about phishing and scams. We looked at some screenshots and worked out what we should do. 

• We talked about looking at URLs to make sure it looks right. 
• We talked about not answering emails sent from people we don't know. 
• We talked about not sending our private information like phone numbers to people we don't know
